01The short answer
The squares, the bridges, the Zwinger courtyard, Brühl's Terrace, the Fürstenzug and the Kunsthofpassage need nothing arranged, and the Frauenkirche is free to enter as an open church. What needs arranging is a time slot in the Historic Green Vault, a performance at the Semperoper, and a room in Advent.
02The Historic Green Vault
The Historic Green Vault is entered on a time-slot ticket, and because the treasure chambers can take only a limited number of people at once, the museum itself recommends booking online. The rest of the palace's museums are sold on an ordinary ticket, and a combined ticket covers both.
Note Photography is not permitted inside the Historic Green Vault. Leave the camera in your bag and look.
03The Semperoper
Performances at the Semperoper — opera, ballet and the Staatskapelle's concerts — are sold by the house, and popular nights sell out. The building is also shown on guided tours on days it is not rehearsing.
04The Frauenkirche dome
Entering the Frauenkirche needs no ticket, but the climb to the lantern is ticketed separately, and the guided dome ascents are small groups that must be reserved.
05A room in Advent
The Striezelmarkt draws visitors from all over Europe, and hotels fill on Advent weekends first. If your dates fall in December, fix the room before anything else — see when to come.
